The Common Ash is one of our best-known native trees.It has a smooth,grey bark.Leaves are compound and can have up to twelve leaflets.It has hard,black buds which burst open before the leaves appear .The tree produces great bunches of slim seeds called keys.Hurleys are made from the trunk section of younger trees.Unfortunately in recent years, many Ash trees have been affected by ash dieback.
