Busy Times in 3rd Class ⭐️
The boys have been working very hard as they have been settling back into school over the last couple of weeks. During the first week of school, the boys took part in a STEM activity whereby they had to work as part of a team to build the tallest tower using spaghetti and marshmallows. The boys really enjoyed this as it encouraged them to think outside the box.
In English the boys have been learning all about recount writing and this month they have moved onto the topic of narrative writing. Each week the boys write a new story and they have written some excellent pieces.
In maths they have recently covered the topics of time and 2D shapes. The boys were busy making 2D shapes using match sticks and playdough and they also created lovely pictures from these shapes.
Having read a story about Tom Crean we further explored this topic in SESE and drew the Terra Nova ship using chalk and sugar paper in art. We have also explored the topics of the Stone Age and last week we learnt about space and investigated the effects of the atmosphere on the Earth’s temperature as we celebrated Space Week.
The boys were very lucky as they were given the opportunity to learn how to play the ukulele. Each week the boys are making great progress and can already play a range of songs!
During our PE lessons the boys were focusing on developing their running technique through several games. The boys had great fun. Over the next few weeks, they will participate in Gaelic football sessions where they will learn all the essential skills.
