We had some lovely trips during the school's Community Engagement Week. Firstly, we took the short walk to the Caherdavin branch of Limerick & District Credit Union. Our local Credit Union have always supported our school as best they can.
We were warmly greeted by the staff from the Credit Union. The boys learned about the 20 countries where the Euro currency is used. They also learned about different currencies around the world. We took part in some role play where some of the boys exchanged Euro for foreign currencies such as Sterling and the US Dollar.
They boys were very interested in the business of the Credit Union. They learned about the importance of lodging money to savings as well as the Credit Union's ability to hand out loans for different purposes. The boys are now aware of interest on loans and how profit is made by handing out loans.
The staff also prepared a lovely quiz for the boys to take part in. We were all given lovely goodie bags and two soccer balls for the boys. We'd like to thank everyone at the Credit Union for the efforts they went to in order to make the trip educational and enjoyable for the boys.
We also took a walk to Chill the Bean for some hot chocolate and cookies. The weather was good to us and the boys were able to sit out on the benches. They enjoyed their chill time talking with each other.
