A great week was had by all in 5th Class. Here is a brief summary of our activities.
Maths
We have been exploring length in Maths. The boys took to the school astroturf in order to work in groups to take measurements using the trundle wheel. In class the boys were learning about standard and non-standard units, perimeter and area.
SESE
We discussed all things weather and climate related. We learned the difference between weather and climate. Boys got an insight into the 6 main climate types around the world. They also learned about factors that influence Ireland's climate such as the ocean current called the North Atlantic Drift and the prevailing wind which is a south westerly wind. The boys also worked together to construct weather recording instruments such as wind vanes and rain gauges.
Incredible ICT Improvements
On Thursday, we experimented with our brand new Chromebooks for the first time. These fantastic machines will certainly enhance the learning experience for everyone in the class. They can be used for research, educational games and project work.
